Where'd the title come from?

I've always loved the fact that my initials spell the name of one of the most iconic trees in the US - the American Elm. Since I'll be spending the next year in Africa, I guess I could be considered an 'African' Elm for a little while! Apparently African Elms really do exist, they just don't seem to be very well documented.
